BHRR's Kyo – August 11th, 2012
At the Critter Jungle DIRTY DAWG Wash Fundraiser
**Taken with my iPhone**
Sean had to leave with the kids after helping set-up yet; before he left he washed the very first dog; BHRR's Kyo!
THANK you Critter Jungle again for such an opportunity! It was so much fun! 🙂
As everyone can see, he is a dream!
BHRR's Kyo – August 11th, 2012 & BHRR's Kyo July 2012 with that photo courtesy of his temp foster home
COME ON OUT TO SEE US THIS SATURDAY AUGUST 11th @ the Critter Jungle in Ottawa, Ontario!
RAIN OR SHINE! We shall be there! So, bring your dirty dawg and we shall wash plus towel dry for you!
We shall also have some items for sale to help raise much needed funds for the animals in need of BHRR.
AND it looks like the rain is going to be there BUT so shall we! 🙂 We are all going to be wet anyway! 😉
BHRR’s Kyo is doing well in his temp foster home and plans have been made to have him come back to BHRR the second week of September should he not be adopted by then.
As always, we remain patient!! He is such an awesome dog!
He had a great short ‘dog in the park’ movie experience and came to visit us again briefly at Pet Valu this past Saturday.
Dropped off BHRR’s Kyo to his temp foster home on Monday night.
According to his temp fostermom he is settling in like the bomb proof dog we have said he was! 🙂
They have called him ‘kuddly’, ‘kalm’, ‘kurious’ etc.!
On Tuesday, I was notified that their other two dogs were playing with him and as BHRR’s Kyo does love his outside zooming; he was leading a grand merry chase.
Unfortunately, the excitement built and before the home could step in; their other two lovely dogs; had caused some booboos to his hind end. BHRR’s Kyo had no negative reaction and revealed how solid plus balanced he is.
The home was very proactive, took him to the Vet, contacted myself and he is now on some antibiotics. The marks/punctures appears to be granulating very well and he was completely unfazed by it all. A true testament to his temperament and foundation built. 🙂
The temp foster home and I have conversed about the importance of having emergency stops and emergency recalls training; control words, that we are glad that everyone is ok and that accidents happen and BHRR thinks he is in the best hands. 🙂
I look forward to receiving updates and photos of his amazing adventures!
May his forever loving adoptive home find him soon! 🙂
BHRR cannot thank our temp foster homes enough for without them; BHRR would not be able to save the animals we have.
BHRR’s Kyo was dropped at his temp foster home tonight.
He stepped out of the car with his usual casual ‘I am here….let’s do this grand thing’ approach and went without too much hesitation with his temp foster family.
What a great dog and thanks to this home; BHRR is able to assist the Harlequin Great Dane we are naming – BHRR’s Cosette.
I have photos to post of his amazing time at our July 8th Fundraiser and, of course; as always these days; many other blogs and photos to post in updates.
Been the worse summer yet; for r/q Rescue out there and we have committed to the helping of three dogs recently that another place said they would and then never showed up and these animals were in high kill shelters/pounds. 🙁
We beg people to please do their research when it comes to not only looking to purchase from a r/q Breeder yet; when it comes to supporting and adopting from a Rescue.
Cannot stress enough that as not all Breeders are equal and of high stellar quality; neither are places that say they rescue.
Our 5th Annual BHRR/KAH MIcrochip/Nail Trim & BBQ Fundraiser being held at Kanata Animal Hospital from 8 AM – 4 PM (NO appointments necessary) is coming up fast!

ALL MONIES RAISED GO TO THE BHRR ANIMALS!
BHRR's Kyo is moving to an AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION status as of April 17th, 2012
Kyo's HWT was negative!
BHRR's Kyo came with me on Sunday April 15th as one of the amazing BHRR representatives PLUS incredible GD Breed representatives to Pet Valu as part of their Pet Appreciation Weekend event.
BHRR was invited to the new Pet Valu in Kemptville, Ontario and we were there both Saturday(BHRR's Journey also came) & on Sunday(BHRR's Hamilton and BHRR's Kyo came) and had a most wonderful community education and awareness event!
THANK you so much to Erika and all the amazing staff of Pet Valu again for inviting us and they are still taking donations for 'pawprints' up to and including April 30th, 2012! I was informed yesterday that they were just shy of $1,000 raised and those monies shall be used towards going to pay for a Pet Pro 2000 IV pump( $2,000+ USD ) for those special needs dogs in need of IV treatment at BHRR.
THANK you to all the Volunteers who spent their time with me this weekend AND thank you to all the supporters who came out to visit!
BHRR's Kyo has MORE than passed all his evaluations/assessments plus Vet check etc. This boy is a great BOMB PROOF boy! It is very rare that we would ever place up for adoption a dog that has not been here the standard 4-5 weeks(he will have been with us four weeks on the 24th of April); yet; this boy is what he is! You get what you see and what you get and see is nothing short of AWESOMENESS! HE is magnificent!!! Simply THUMBS UP!
He has been one of my best ever obedience pupils and ROLE model boy he is! 🙂
Below is a photo taken on April 15th, from his visit to Pet Valu! He did not want me to go too far! LOL He first began hugging me and sleeping with his head on my knee but then it moved to my foot. 🙂
ISN'T he sweet?

I brought BHRR's Kyo in tonight to have his Vet Exam etc. and he now weighed 50.1 KGs(110.22 pounds)! YAY!
We scanned him yet did not locate a microchip and so he was chipped and had his DAPP + Rabies vaccines.
The Vet was also very impressed with his temperament and personality and overall body condition. He has some tartar on his teeth; yet; nothing worrisome at all and it truly is hard to believe that he is over the age of 4, 5 max.
His coat is already looking less dry and becoming more shiny!
His tail is healing so well!
A GREAT Vet visit; THUMBS up!
We also did a HWT and I shall post the results as soon as they come in. 🙂
Here is the VIDEO of BHRR's Kyo with Katie & Devon at Earl of March HS last Monday! Tail wagging and trusting and such a LOVE BUG!
His Vet appointment is set for this Wednesday April 4th.
He has been fully integrated with ALL dogs except BHRR's Riley, BHRR's Atlas & BHRR's Rambo & a couple of my own as they are away at dogs shows. HE has proven to be a very playful, youthful and quite energetic GD outside and a model gentleman inside…sooooooooooooooo freakin' sweet!
It has taken a week yet; he has now been coming back to me when called when we are outside. I think from having been boarded for over 6 weeks; he was worried that he was going to be crated and caged and that is not the case here.
I AM LOVING this boy!!! SUPERB dog!
If he is 6 years of age; I am totally knocked over. His body condition, energy level and overall everything; speaks so much younger; but he is what he is and WOW! IS he ever going to make a home that WOW dog!!! Such an easy keeper.
This is Katie(l) & Devon(r) with BHRR's Kyo(6+ year old GD)
March 26th, 2012
*I was asked to go to Earl of March Secondary School in Kanata by them to be interviewed and to talk to their Grade 10 Civics & Careers class. There were about 25-30 students*
THANKS to M. Aris for coming with me and it was a lovely community education & public awareness opportunity to discuss not only the unique work of BHRR; yet the importance of spaying/neutering, proper Vet care, training, supporting only r/q organizations, about puppymills and so much more!
THANKS ladies for a lovely morning!!! 🙂
Katie & Devon even made a $25 donation to BHRR!
I asked both of them what they would like to do as their own Career path choice and Katie is thinking about being a teacher & Devon wants to be a Vet! 🙂
After this; I took him to KAH, got a weight on him(48.9 KGs or 107.58 pounds); visited for about 20 minutes and we then went to get him a special treat from Timmie's.
HE is such an easy keeper and NOTHING like what the one home that failed with his adoption and told the Rescue that adopted him to them said he was.
Their loss and he shall be anothers' gem! 🙂
I would like to see another 15 pounds or so of muscle mass and weight on him. He is doing great! OTHER than the recall when he is free to romp in the 2+ acre fenced in yard! LOL That shall come!
I am stunned to think that 1) anyone could give him up 2) that he is said to be 6+ years of age FOR he makes my own to almost 6 year old Danes look 12! LOL He is such a 'young' boy!
Awhile back, I was contacted by a woman named Kathy Radar. She had recently purchased a new vehicle a ‘Journey’ and she had heard about BHRR’s Journey’s story. She contacted me wanting to do a Fundraiser to ‘Fill Up Her Journey For Journey & BHRR Friends’.
This is one reason why we are hosting a special BHRR ‘EXPERIENCE’ Mini Open House in April; for she shall be coming up to BHRR with her friend to drop off her Journey filled with goodies! I thought it would be lovely for her & her friend to meet others involved with BHRR, pass along their own appreciation for her efforts etc. 🙂
For anyone in the London, ON area that would like to participate; please contact Kathy directly. (519) 452-3009 – She is collecting items right up until April 19th inclusive!!!
Journey for JOURNEY campaign poster – Click Link To View Poster! 🙂
On another note; BHRR’s Journey’s recheck on her tail, new weight check plus tail appointment shall be rescheduled for next weekend – Saturday March 31st, 2012.
BHRR's Kyo(aboutr 6+ years of age) is also setting in very well at BHRR.
Below are two videos taken of him today. He has a bit of a tail injury yet we shall work on getting that to heal well.
VIDEO #1 – Learning the layout of BHRR
VIDEO #2 – Meeting Herc the Horse & hoping Hercules will play with him!
I shall be making an appointment to bring him in for a HWT, update vaccines and to get a weight on him. I shall also scan to see if he is microchipped and if not, chip him.
BHRR's Kyo – 6+ year old male neutered merle GD
His Story –
He was brought into another Rescue, was placed and then subsequently returned. The Rescue then contacted BHRR for assistance with him as they did not have an open foster, did not believe that they could find another adoptive home right for him and so, he was being boarded at a Vet's for the last 6+ weeks.
He shall be coming to BHRR March 24th, 2012.
NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
