Here are the x-rays of BHRR’s Noelle – they are taken with Autumn’s phone as they are ‘developed’ x-rays, not digital…and, the words written by the one ortho specialist who saw her. Two Vets now concur that this leg should be amputated ASAP. However, he does not believe it should go immediately due to her managing as well as she is at this time on it. In the near future yes, yet, not ‘yesterday’. However, only one part of the picture was seen as we learned that only one view of her leg was taken with the x-rays.

For some reason, only x-rays of one view was done and we need to see straight on and inside and so, she is scheduled to go back for X-rays, this time at KAH on Friday January 3rd, 2013. This also explained why she did not require sedation as to do the other two views is very difficult without sedation – no matter how great the dog – and with her minimal flexion and chronic pain, would be impossible.

We are going to get the additional x-rays, Dr. Philibert will then review himself along with the first specialist and advise. There was discussion on a possible ‘fusion’ surgery yet, there is no elbow(what is on the other side view?) and, what is there is small and malformed. With all the x-rays, there will be a much clearer plus better picture formed and when this leg should be removed…two Vets believe right now and two more Vets, one being a specialist shall also becoming involved in her case, so that the best decision can be made for her….. 🙂 I am thinking sooner rather than later myself.

We also did a microchip, bw, de-worming has begun plus she is on revolution. She was fully examined by two different Vets – heart, lungs are all yay! 🙂 She weighed 16.5 KGs(36.3 pounds) and needs to lose a few pounds for her age/size at this time. I suspect possibly a beagle influence in there somewhere.

“Part of her elbow is gone, elbow does not fully flex, and there is crepitus in it. Can walk on it, but limps and when rests, shifts weight on it.
There is no detectable anconeal process, and, the lateral portion of the distal humerus is malformed and small.”
