BHRR's Rose & BHRR's Petal did not want to venture out at all today; so; this afternoon; with some encouragement from Sean and I; we managed to get BHRR's Rose out of the crate and BHRR's Petal was hot on her heels.
Took BHRR's Rose(carried her) outside and BHRR's Petal followed quickly and they hung around for some gentle reassurance, were shaking and then as Sean walked down the side of the house; they began to perk up, and literally then bounded and hopped their way through part of the fenced in yard! YAY!
I stayed with them and every few seconds, they would come 'check in' and I could give gentle touches to BHRR's Rose and then BHRR's Petal became curious and interested and she discovered that this gentle loving is not so bad! 🙂 I was able to take off with my hands what felt about 20 pounds of fur between the two of them and I shall continue to work on their coats as I can as I do not want to terrify them.
They would then romp a bit, come check in with me; explore a bit more; both had poops and a couple of pees and BHRR's Rose is definitely the more outgoing and dom one for she would pee over every spot that BHRR's Petal peed or pooped.
They run side by side in unison and had moments of happiness out there!
I was even able to give BHRR's Rose a very gentle soft kiss on her head! She is more independent, seeking some affection and then wanting to be more near and around me then touching me. BHRR's Petal, once she gets up the courage to come close to you; will 'seek' to have more; very shyly. Very small slow movements.
They are so skinny. 🙁 When I moved towards going deeper into the fenced in area; they were right there by my side or close on my heels. They are bonding fast and furious and for any adoptive homes that these two may go to; they will have to understand just how pack oriented and loyal these dogs are! It is humbling….just so humbling.
If I headed towards the house; they were quick to follow; no matter if they ventured a bit far away from me. They always kept their eyes on me and even now; as I am typing this; BHRR's Petal has those unbelievably stunning blue eyes watching me and BHRR's Rose has those incredibly gorgeous brown eyes looking at me.
They wanted to go back into their crate and we keep the door open; that was all cleaned up with fresh bedding, water and food; and both are now resting. They tend to eat when it is most quiet yet; do not appear to mind drinking when things are a bit busy here.
They have been integrated with most of the dogs here; yet; prefer to keep to themselves(Drift has other ideas! AS does Caffrey!) and stay quiet right now.
I have not heard a peep from them.
Am I falling in love? YUP! You betcha!
Tomorrow, promises to be another glorious day for them and I! 🙂
better be able to handle them and look at teeth and energy level etc.
